There are a variety of affordable and fun gift ideas on the market this holiday season. Although boys and girls are very fond of Play Station and other video console games, an educational gift can sometimes entice them as well. We have found that chidlren are just about the right age to start taking an interest in craft kids by about 7 or 8 (much younger and you will be doing most of the crafting!) Plaster moulding kits of their favorite film characters are always a hit. Girls will enjoy jewellery making kits of all kinds, as well as craft foam kits (making picture frames, jewellery etc). Boys in particular may enjoy simple science experiments, kaleidoscope kits and so on.

Growing things

Some children of this age love to grow things, so you could put together an indoor or outdoor growing kit of flower pot, seeds, compost and perhaps even a little spade or trowel. Add some instructions and a bright ribbon and you have a fun, homemade Christmas gift which might spark a life-long hobby!
